Windows 7 Tour

Are you look for some simple ways to create some buzz for the upcoming Windows 7 release? Try pointing your customers to this Tour Windows 7 link. If you produce a customer facing enews document, that would be a great link to include.

Many of us get lost in the “nuts and bolts” of technology. If you haven’t done so already, I would encourage you to spend some time poking around on the Customer facing Microsoft website, What’s new in Windows 7: Lots of stuff there that will prepare you to answer the “simple”questions that customers may ask. Tired of watching their eyes glaze over every time that you or your techs try to explain something to them? Just send them there…

iPhone SMS Vulnerability Fix Should Be Applied ASAP

Forgive me, but I couldn’t resist….

According to eWeek:

Apple’s iPhone OS 3.0.1 update doesn’t provide any compelling new features

Network Migration Workbook is Here!

My friend Karl Palachuk is announcing the release of his eagerly awaited The Network Migration Workbook, subtitled Zero Downtime Migrations for Microsoft Networks. I’ve had a chance to see Karl present on this topic and I have had an opportunity to review part of the manuscript. I really think that he is on to something here!

If you know anything about Karl, you know that he is absolutely fanatical about Checklists; real, live, printed on paper CHECKLISTs. This book continues on in the Palachuck tradition. The book weighs in at about 600 8 1/2 x 11 pages. There are two HUGE checklist, one for SBS 2003 and one for SBS 2008. They are worth the price of the book on their own.

However, Karl is quick to point out, “People think they want the click-by-click instructions on doing a Zero Downtime Migration. And yes, you do want that. But the meat that makes this process successful is the process.” You can read his explanation of WHY you should by the book on his blog post, The “Guts” of the Network Migration Workbook

Order the book at the Pre-Sale price of $199 today. Karl has a sizable collection of books written by himself and other in the SMB space. If you haven’t checked it out, I would recommend that you visit, SMB Books
